Breathing Exercise to Calm and Ground
I created this breathing exercise for when we are feeling anxious, stressed, when the mind is racing or we feel ungrounded or disconnected. It only takes a few minutes and will change your state to calm, clear, relaxed and grounded very easily. Enjoy!
Close your eyes
Place your hands on your stomach.
Focus on the feeling of the warmth of your hands on your stomach.
Focus on breathing into your stomach
Take three deep breaths
As you are breathing in, think ‘I am breathing in calm, peace and energy’. As you breathe out, think ‘I am breathing out stress, anxiety and tensions’
Place your hands on your belly. Focus on the feeling of the warmth of your hands on your belly
Focus on breathing into your belly
Take three deep breaths
As you are breathing in, think ‘I am breathing in calm, peace and energy’. As you breathe out, think ‘I am breathing out stress, anxiety and tensions’
For the third, place your hands on your knees and focus on the feeling of your feet on the floor
Take three deep breaths
As you are breathing in, think ‘I am breathing in calm, peace and energy’. As you breathe out, think ‘I am breathing out stress, anxiety and tensions’
Then focus your attention into the centre of the Earth
Send roots out of your feet, down through the Earth to the molten centre of the Earth.
Take three deep breaths
As you are breathing in, think ‘I am breathing in calm, peace and energy’. As you breathe out, think ‘I am grounded, connected and centred into Mother Earth’
When you’ve finished, open your eyes and look straight in front of you at something to bring yourself back to the present
